Washington D.C., our nations capital has so many things to see and do, even in the winter cold of January. There’s always any one of our national monuments and taking a hop-on-hop-off double-decker bus tour is a great way to get around to a wide variety of sites. Some of the highlights of the tour are The Capital, The National Mall, The Smithsonian, The National Archives, The White House, The Washington Monument and The Lincoln and Jefferson Monuments. Buses run from 9am to around 4:30 or 8pm weather and traffic depending. You can get off at any site and the bus driver will give you a ticket to get on the next bus. Children 5 and under are free, adults can ride for about $39.95 and families for about $94.95.

The Smithsonian is always a great see with many oohs and ahs for all. Many of the museums have free admission. There are so many different museums to see you should plan more than one day to see all you want to see. Kid friendly museums are numerous and fun including The Air and Space Museum, The Natural History Museum, The American Art Museum and of course The Discovery Theater. Plan ahead with a map and it will make your trip to The Smithsonian more enjoyable. Restaurants are abundant so finding food in a wide price range is not difficult. There is also ample transportation by bus from locations all over Washington.

For the sports fan you should try to catch The Washington Capitals Hockey team. They play at The Kettler Capitals Iceplex. If you have never seen a live hockey game it is a fun and intense experience. As with most sporting events the tickets can be expensive. Know ahead of time which games you want to see and be sure to book in advance. You may be able to buy them through Craig’s list cheaper from someone trying to dump their tickets, but use caution!

For both adults and children there is The Spy Museum with many fun packed events that let you be the spy. Tickets range from $18 for adults and $15 for children aged 5-11. There are also theme events that range in prices that are reasonable For adults there are many romantic restaurants and seafood restaurants along the Potomac that afford a nice walk after dinner. For kids there is a chain of restaurants called Johnny Rockets which are all Americana themed and fun for the whole family with great burgers at great prices.

Washington has many attractions to offer to the visitor. Actually I have not been there but from what I've read in your article and from other sources it is certainly worth visiting.
