Chateau Frontenac is the Most Photographed Hotel in the World

The most photographed hotel in the world.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records the Chateau Frontenac Hotel in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada is the most photographed hotel in the world. One look at this magnificent hotel perched atop a highpoint bluff in the city of Quebec is enough to explain why it is the most photographed hotel in the world.

Chateau Frontenac was built in castle-like fashion in the early 1890's by the Canadian Pacific Railway company as a way to entice wealthy people to travel to and through Canada along the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Canadian Pacific Railway company built a number of magnificent luxury hotels across Canada at that time and arguably the Chateau Frontenac is the most spectacular of these hotels.

The hotel is named for Louis de Buade de Frontenac who was the Governor General of New France from 1672-1682 and 1689-1698. The Chateau Frontenac was built on top of a high point in Quebec City so it offers guests fantastic views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding areas. Placing the hotel on a high point bluff in the city has also made the Chateau Frontenac the most recognizable symbol of Quebec and helped to make it the most photographed hotel in the world.

Beautiful photos! I can see why this is the most photographed hotel worldwide. The style, although somewhat smaller, is reflected in both the Banff Springs Hotel and the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton Lakes National Park, both in Alberta, Canada (built around the same time). Nice review.

These buildings were constructed with a vitage view with a mix of gothic structures, perhaps.
