Compare Accor Hotels, Motel-6 and Country Inns and Suites

In this report

When choosing a hotel, it can be helpful to familiarize yourself with several brands. This article compares the amenities and values of three levels of hotel brands. It is a comparison between the mid-level Country Inn and Suites and the two Accor Brands of the luxurious Sofit Hotels and budget friendly Motel-6.

The article will help you understand what to expect from each brand and the types of amenities or services offered. It also discovers where each hotel brand may be located. Most importantly, the article will inform your reservation decisions to help you select the best hotel for your needs.

#1 - Country Inns & Suites

Country Inns & Suites is a mid-level brand that caters to both business and family leisure travel and is one of a number of brands that is owned by Carlson Hotels. Other brands include the Radisson, Park Plaza, Club Carlson and Park Inn by Radisson.

Most of the Country Inns & Suites proprties offer both a standard room type or a two room suite. Children age 18 and under will stay for free as long as they are staying in a room with an adult. Although there may be slight variations between locations, the suites typically have a bedroom area with either two beds or a king size bed. In addition to this is a separate sitting room with a pull-out sofa.

Room amenities typically include a coffee maker with courtesy coffee, hairdryer, refrigerator and microwave . A large screen television, iron and board, and two telephones with separate extensions help guests to feel right at home.

A lending library distinguishes Country Inns & Suites from other hotels. Guests can simply choose a book from the hotel library. It may be returned to any hotel of this brand in the U.S. or Canada.

The complimentary breakfast is a revolving menu of omlettes, breakfast burritos, eggs benedict and other hot items. A "grab-and-go" bar is ideal for breakfast on the run. Guests can easily grab coffee and a bite to eat before hitting the road. Restaurants may not be on the property but are usually adjacent to the property or nearby.

Country Inns & Suites are often found near an interstate, restaurants and shopping centers. Reservations can be made online, through a national or interntational number or with the individual hotel.

#3 - Motel 6

Travelers across the U.S. are used to the familar blue signs with the bright red '6' that dot the landscape. This Accor Hotel is designed for travelers who want a clean room at a good price. These are often found near interstates or on major thoroughfares.

The Motel 6 brand caters to the budget guest. dtypically does not offer a wide array of amenities. The rooms are comfortable but not plush. Breakfast is not available. Restaurants will not be in the hotel or on the property but may be within walking distance.

These hotels may not have a swimming pool but they are advertised to be the lowest price hotel brand in the U.S. Rooms are usually two double beds or one king or queen. Motel-6 amenities include cable television and free local phone calls. Coffee is available in the morning in the lobby. Motel 6 hotels are non-smoking and Wi-Fi is availble at most locations.  Children in the room with a parent stay for free.

The Bottom Line

The hotels covered in this article are not the perfect fit for every traveler. Each concept is geared toward a specific group.

Spacious and comfortable, the Sofitel provides luxurious accommodations for the very high-end consumers. High profile guests may find this destination hotel brand to be best suited for his or her individual needs.

On the other hand, Comfort Inns & Suites can be ideal for either family or business travel. It too is thought of as a destination brand. Swimming pools, and in-room amenities speak to guests who want to stay multiple nights. The combination of a sitting room and bedroom provide additional working space or room for the kids to 'hang out'.

The Motel-6 is geared toward guests who want more modest accommodations. Guests who want to spend a night and then get back on the road will appreciate the simplicity of a no-frills, clean room and comfortable bed. This may be a good fit for business guests, individuals or families.
